Tanya Brown has joined the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, College of Business Administration as executive director of marketing and public relations. As the college’s chief strategist and architect for marketing, branding, and communication, she will develop and direct the college-wide effort to enhance the college’s brand and global reputation among key stakeholders and target audiences.
Prior to joining the business college, Brown served for three years as director of communications for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, College of Law, overseeing its branding, marketing, media relations and communications strategies; she also was editor of Tennessee Law, the school’s alumni magazine.
Before arriving at the University of Tennessee, Brown worked at Purdue University in the Department of Marketing and Media, serving as a full-time marketing consultant for the Krannert School of Management, and prior to that as a publicist in Purdue News Service.
Brown began her career as a journalist, earning her bachelor’s degree in journalism and art from the Pulliam School of Journalism at Franklin College of Indiana. She is a member of the American Marketing Association and the Knoxville Marketing Association.
